Is God an Alien?

The short answer is, yes.

You might think that I’m crazy or maybe a conspiracy theorist. I’m not. Continue on and I think you will see my point.

I came across this thought while studying the Book of Mormon, Alma 40:8.

“Now whether there is more than one time appointed for men to rise it mattereth not; for all do not die at once, and this mattereth not; all is as one day with God, and time only is measured unto men.” (italics added)

One of the greatest revelations of Einstein’s theory of general relativity is that space and time are inseparably connected. Later, a combination of an hypothesis from Georges Lemaitre (“hypothesis of the primeval atom”) and equations by Alexander Friedman theorized that the universe had a point of singularity later called “The Big Bang”. By deduction, time began at this singularity, or at least it is impossible to determine what came before it or how to even define what “before” means from there.

Considering this, I have always been interested in a series of scriptures. Please consider these:

Psalms 90:4

“For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night.”

2 Peter 3:8

“But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.”

Abraham 3:4

“And the Lord said unto me, by the Urim and Thummim, that Kolob was after the manner of the Lord, according to its times and seasons in the revolutions thereof; that one revolution was a day unto the Lord, after his manner of reckoning, it being one thousand years according to the time appointed unto that wheron thou standest. this is the reckoning of the Lord’s time, according to the reckoning of Kolob.”(italics added)

There are others that refer to the Lord’s “time” being different than ours. Or, is it that time simply doesn’t exist for God? Time is only part of this existence that we live in. Time is only “appointed unto that whereon thou standest”.

God, Heavenly Father, has never lived on this earth and therefore He is not of this world….and therefore, an alien. Not in the sense that science fiction defines an alien, but not of this world or time.

Now, before I get stoned for blasphemy, let me explain further.

There are three prevailing “theories” for our existence on this earth. One is God created it for us to test our willingness to be good. Second is that life began…well that is still unknown how it actually started, but once it did start, life evolved to what we are today. Third is that aliens from other worlds placed life on this earth.

Of course, I tend to believe in the first but have always had an open mind to consider the “application” of one of the others. When I consider the alien theory (which would be easier if someone had actually proved their existence first!), I can see the potential logic but I am still held up on one simple question. How do you explain Jesus Christ?

No one person in the history of this earth has had more impact on on civilization than Jesus Christ. Our weeks (7 days) are based on His creation process. Our calendar (based on those 7 days) has a zero-point at His birth. The various christian religions make up the world’s largest religion with over 2.5 billion people believing in its various forms.

If mankind started by seeding the earth with aliens that developed into a species and then man created religion to maintain civilization, how do we account for Jesus Christ? What would the purpose be? Why is there so much logic built into His teachings and why is it that most laws are founded on those teachings?

Occam’s Razor, also called the “law of succinctness” states that one must pick the hypothesis from its competitors that makes the fewest new assumptions. In science, researchers use the Razor as a guiding principle to look for a model with with simplistic elegance. The Razor is not intended to be an arbiter between competing principles, only a logical way to weed through the complexities of the competing models.

As I stated in a previous post, man has come a long way in defining how the physics of this world work, but we have yet to understand sentience. I submit, we must also consider an elegant definition for the purpose of Jesus Christ if man only exists thanks to a “seeding” from aliens.

Ponder on that and make your own conclusion…..

Why are "We"?

I’ve spent a lifetime looking for answers to deep questions. My mind is constantly thinking about many “why’s”. I have thoroughly enjoyed picking up bits and pieces from great minds of science, philosophy and religion and mulled them over and over in my mind….generally only to myself until I feel that I can develop a thought worth sharing.

I keep coming back to “why are we?” Not just me, but all humans. Why are we sentient?

Over four hundred years ago, René Descartes gave his famous quotable quote, “I think, therefore I am”. Descartes’ point was only “do I exist?” and yet there is so much of a deeper meaning. “I think, therefore I am more”. More than a rock, a tree, bacteria, even more than an animal.

Why are we the only “animal” of this planet that reasons. The ability to pause between action and reaction and think causes a huge divergence between us and every other living thing on this planet…and maybe in the universe.

Our capacity and drive to learn and develop is stunning. Consider the knowledge gained in just the last 30 years or so. Since we only have 70 years on this planet, we have to take what others learn, evaluate it, validate it, expand on it and often develop whole new ways to look at things. At every stage of new learning, someone foolishly says “this is it!!”. And then we learn more and half of the people that felt that we had learned enough say, “this is wrong, we can’t change again” and the other half takes that new knowledge and builds onto what they know and continue to improve on it and the cycle starts over again.

This creates friction amongst us that is both natural and difficult. But, this process has created enormous advances in many answers. The fields of physics, quantum mechanics and astrophysics have given us not only answers, but mathematical formulas that improve our lives and have even taken us off this planet and returned to it.

So, back to my original question? Why are we? Because, even with all of that knowledge about “things” we are nowhere close to understanding the very beings that allow us to reason and develop such amazing knowledge. Sentience is the great mystery. To try and simplify it into neurons, pathways and brain scans is a similar to saying that all science is Earth, Wind, Fire and Water. If you think that Newtonian physics breaks down at the quantum level, just consider the incalculable possibilities of sentient existence. Even if we can explain how we got here physically, we can’t even fathom what makes us “us”. Even thinking about what makes us “think” seems to almost be like matter and anti-matter which collides and cancels.

Finally, to think that “this is it!” with whatever the current knowledge of today is a travesty. Knowledge will continue to develop at even a more rapid pace and much of it will cancel out what we “think” is correct today. We have a responsibility to keep an open mind as this happens.
